When I am out in the line up I often see people struggling on unsuitable equipment, boards that might be great for an expert surfer but are woefully inadequate for a beginning or intermediate surfer – teeny submarine-like boards that might be perfect for the best surfer in the world but are totally unsuitable for anyone that is not highly skilled and experienced. When a person starts out on the surfing journey, the trip can be made infinitely easier if one starts out on the right equipment. This little application is designed to do just that – help you find and understand which board will be best for you. Many people ride equipment too advanced for their ability level and end up becoming frustrated while painfully struggling through the learning process. It is important to pick a board that will maximize the fun factor from the outset and make learning and improving as painless as possible.
You want a board that will help you catch waves quickly, that is easy to maneuver and will help you maximize your potential by making the experience as enjoyable as possible. When you are starting out you definitely don’t need a Formula 1 racing machine. Choosing a board is not about making a fashion statement or impressing anyone in the store or on the beach or riding what the best surfer in the world rides – it is about getting the best board that is right for you, right now.
